COMMERCIAL EXECUTIVE – TRAVEL RETAIL

As the business continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and commercially driven Commercial Executive to support the development of our international wholesale activities. The role will focus on identifying and developing new customers, managing assigned commercial relationships, preparing and following up on proposals, analysing customer and market activity, and ensuring that opportunities progress effectively from initial contact through to completion.
The successful candidate will work closely with the wider Commercial, Purchasing, Finance and Operations teams and will be expected to combine proactive business development with strong attention to detail and disciplined follow-through.

The duties include:

  • Research and identify potential customers, markets and commercial opportunities.
  • Conduct structured outbound activity through email, telephone, LinkedIn, meetings, exhibitions and international market visits.
  • Build and maintain target-customer lists and a reliable pipeline of qualified leads.
  • Manage assigned customers and opportunities from first contact through to order completion.
  • Develop strong, professional relationships with customers and commercial partners.
  • Prepare quotations, sales proposals and customer offers in line with agreed pricing and commercial parameters.
  • Review purchase prices, selling prices, expected gross profit and customer requirements before progressing proposals.
  • Follow up consistently on quotations, dormant customers and outstanding commercial opportunities.
  • Support the development of new customer profiles, markets, categories and product opportunities.
  • Analyse customer purchasing behaviour, sales performance, margins and commercial trends.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional products, brands and categories to existing customers.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations and Logistics to ensure that orders, payments, documents and deliveries progress effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and timely customer, lead and opportunity information within the Company’s ERP and reporting tools.
  • Prepare commercial reports, pipeline updates, forecasts and market insights to support management decision-making.
  • Support customer onboarding, documentation and internal approval processes.
  • Participate in customer meetings, business trips, trade events and other commercial activities.
  • Contribute to the improvement of commercial processes and working practices.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably required in line with the role and the evolving needs of the business.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, marketing or a related field.
  • At least two to three years of relevant commercial, sales, wholesale, account-management or business-development experience.
  • Experience within FMCG, alcoholic beverages, and/or perfumes & cosmetics.
  • A proactive and confident approach to developing new customers and opportunities.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially aware and comfortable reviewing pricing, margins and customer performance.
  • Analytical, organised and attentive to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple customers, opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong ownership and follow-through, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Comfortable working in an international and fast-changing business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and familiarity with CRM, ERP or reporting systems.
  • Willing and able to travel when commercially required.
