Kigali, Rwanda – 
We are seeking a talented Marketing Manager to join our growing Rwandan team.
The candidate will be based in our offices in Kigali. SGR is a distribution company and represents a growing number of world-leading manufacturers including Unilever, Danone, British American Tobacco, and Mars Wrigley.

The duties include:

  • To maintain “4P” based Marketing Intelligence database for our brands and main competition as a base for strategy formulation.
  • Participation in the setting of the overall marketing plans.
  • Propose and agree marketing strategies with senior management in Rwanda, leadership team at Malta head office and manufacturers’ brand management.
  • Particular attention to new product launches and other major projects to enter new segments or reposition major products within our portfolios. This is to facilitate investment with our multinational partners and their appointed marketing agencies.
  • Assume responsibility for the trade marketing and merchandising team, and brand managers that may be appointed in the future.
  • Setting of the monthly and quarterly calendar plans and their communication and implementation.
  • Translates annual marketing plans into an actionable implementation calendar.
  • Monitor current campaigns, ensuring their staff meets deadlines and complete necessary tasks.
  • Analyze data to evaluate the success of their marketing efforts and come up with new ideas to improve brand marketing.
  • Making use, oversee and improve data collection, data quality and its reporting.
  • Participating in Sales & Operations Planning and product procurement process.
  • Formulating and maintaining value chains for own and competition products.
  • Formulating and overseeing marketing implementation reports.
  • Overseeing competition analysis and market share and size data.
  • Responsible for the implementation of channel and category management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of shelf templates that will determine the retail positioning for our main product lines across different trade channels.
  • Work with the commercial teams to co-ordinate our expected market position in alignment with sales operations and brand targets.
  • Maintain the marketing calendar and update senior management on results obtained and learnings from ineffective initiatives.
  • Review & approve tasks undertaken by trade marketing and merchandising team.
  • Participating in target setting and prioritising brand growth areas, as well as setting of the pricing & promotions strategy.
  • Carry out any other task which may be reasonably required of him/her in this position.

The ideal candidate would be:

  • Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels in Rwanda.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Budget-management skills and proficiency.
  • Professional judgment and discretion.
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in graphic design, web design, production and related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Management or related fields. Master’s degree is preferable.
  • A minimum of 3-year experience in FMCG marketing in commercial private companies.
  • Proven success in developing marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English languages, knowledge of French is an added value.
  • Strong project management, multitasking and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the Rwandan FMCG market.
  • Proficiency with online marketing and social media strategy.
  • A working knowledge of data management using various tools including the Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced) and be able to use other useful designing software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and overtime.
