As our Group continues to expand, we are now seeking an HR Executive to be based in Kampala, Uganda. Reporting to the General Manager, the chosen candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing the full HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and HR administration.
The role ensures strong HR operational excellence, drives people strategies aligned with business goals, and supports leadership in making effective people‑related decisions, while ensuring compliance with Uganda’s labor laws.

The duties include:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligning with overall business objectives;
  • Partner with the General Manager and leadership team to support organizational growth and transformation;
  • Provide strategic guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management;
  • Establish and manage efficient, scalable HR operations and systems;
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and frameworks;
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of employee records, contracts, and HRIS data;
  • Oversee attendance, leave management, and time & attendance systems;
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment across all levels to meet business staffing needs;
  • Partner with recruitment agencies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality candidates;
  • Collaborate with line managers to identify current and future talent requirements;
  • Design and implement structured onboarding programs to drive early employee success;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters;
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture;
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and internal communication strategies;
  • Manage disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution in line with company policy and Ugandan labour laws;
  • Drive the performance management framework, including KPIs, appraisals, and probation reviews;
  • Support managers in managing both high and low performance;
  • Identify training and development needs and coordinate learning initiatives;
  • Support leadership development and succession planning efforts;
  • Coordinate payroll inputs and partner with Finance to ensure accurate and timely salary processing;
  • Support compensation reviews and benchmarking activities;
  • Ensure full compliance with Ugandan labour laws, statutory requirements, and health & safety standards;
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory inspections;
  • Proactively identify and mitigate HR-related risks;
  • Prepare and present periodic HR reports to management;
  • Liaise with the HR team in Malta regularly to ensure alignment in the processes;
  • Leverage HR data and metrics to drive insights and support decision-making.

The ideal candidate would be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive generalist HR experience;
  • Proven ability to manage a full HR function independently;
  • Strong knowledge of Uganda labor laws and HR best practices;
  • Experience in a fast-paced or multi-site environment is an added advantage;
  • HR certification is desirable;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality;
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders at all levels;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR Information Systems.
