Ian Camilleri retires after decades of service
Salvo Grima Group Ltd has appointed David Valenzia to its Board as a Non-Executive Director, following the recent retirement of Ian Camilleri after many long years of service.
David Valenzia is a former Territory Senior Partner at PwC Malta, where he spent a total of 36 years. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 in London, where he also worked, prior to being appointed partner of PwC Malta. He was involved in the firm’s assurance practice, where besides being engagement leader on a number of the firm’s major clients, he dealt with several large business groups. He also has considerable experience in assisting with business development projects and corporate restructuring. ‘’Salvo Grima Group has an impressive legacy and an equally promising future‘’ he said, ‘’and I very much look forward to joining it at this time‘’.

Ian Camilleri had initially joined Salvo Grima Group in 1992, occupying a number of senior finance roles. Since 2009, he served as an independent Director on the main Board, with responsibility for Finance and Compliance, and he also served as Director of a number of subsidiaries in Malta and The Netherlands. Reflecting on his experience across the decades, he remarked how Salvo Grima Group had grown substantially in size, scope, and complexity. ‘’A distinguishing feature of this business’’, he observed, ‘’is the way that issues are always resolved with integrity, respect, and a sense of fair play. Such values will doubtless continue to serve the Group well’’.

Commenting on this change, Robert C. Aquilina, Group Chair said ‘’As we acknowledge the very valid contribution Ian has made over the years, and wish him well for the future, we are happy to welcome David. There is little doubt that his acumen, expertise and experience are going to prove invaluable to our business’’.
